"Zacchaeus" cantata for choir, solo voices and instruments

Musikland MV
Eckart Reinmuth - Text Karl Scharnweber - Music

The cantata "Zacchaeus" for mixed choir, two solo voices and instruments by Karl Scharnweber was premiered in 2023.

The New Testament tells the story of the chief tax collector Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1- 10). His profession in the service of the Roman occupying power had brought him prosperity, but also contempt. His work was considered reprehensible and the money he earned was considered dirty. He was one of those who were seemingly lost to God. When Jesus comes into town, Zacchaeus climbs a tree to see him. Jesus notices him and invites him in - Jesus becomes his guest.

The cantata by Eckart Reinmuth (text) and Karl Scharnweber (music) tells this story. It is a story of the courage to encounter and the longing for change.
